On May 11, Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, presided over a special meeting in Chengdu to study the province's relevant work regarding the construction of the national strategic hinterland. The meeting emphasized that we should thoroughly implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium on boosting the development of China's western region in the new era, serve and align with the national overall development, seize major opportunities, actively pursue the layout of strategic industries within the province, and accelerate the high-quality development of the province.

Huang Qiang emphasized that historically, Sichuan has played a crucial role in the strategic maneuverability of national development and security, and that the province is well positioned with a foundation, conditions and advantages to serve the construction of the national strategic hinterland. We must bear in mind the country's fundamental interests, deeply understand Sichuan's strategic role and mission in the new era, bravely shoulder major responsibilities while proactively fulfilling our duties, and concentrate our efforts on shaping the overall framework and establishing long-term foundations for future development, all while aligning actions to serve and integrate into the national strategy. We must pinpoint our strategic focus, conduct further research to understand the distinct advantages and current foundations of the province and its regions, align national strategic requirements with the province's capabilities, concentrate on key areas that allow for mass production and the formation of integrated industrial, innovation and value chains, and promptly refine our project inventory accordingly. We must exert our utmost efforts to secure support from higher authorities, strengthen coordination between Sichuan and Chongqing, ensure that the development of all localities within the province is considered holistically, give play to the provincial leaders' role in spearheading planning and deployment efforts, establish specialized working groups by different categories, take the initiative to reporting to relevant national ministries and commissions, and strive to attract more major projects to be situated in Sichuan. We must enhance the support of factors, gain a clearer understanding of our resources, effectively utilize existing assets, particularly idle ones, follow the principle of addressing urgent matters promptly and special matters appropriately, leverage systems like the "green channel", and effectively handle the supportive initiatives such as land use and environmental protection assessment. We must embrace daring innovation and reform, persistently use institutional innovations to remove institutional obstacles, reinforce the principal role of enterprises, and facilitate the swift conversion of scientific research achievements into tangible development outcomes, ultimately turning them into market-ready industrial products.

Dong Weimin, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, Wang Fengchao, Mayor of Chengdu Municipal People's Government, Zeng Qing, Secretary-General of the People's Government of Sichuan Province attended the meeting.
