On August 30, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, inspected the work related to people's well-being and convened a thematic meeting. She emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on people's well-being work, earnestly implement the provincial Party committee's requirements, adhere to the Chinese modernization concept that prioritizes people's well-being, practice a people-centered philosophy of development, ensure and improve people's well-being in promoting high-quality development, devote utmost efforts in light with our capacity, work in an integrated and coordinated manner, advance one task after another with relentless persistence, and ensure that the work in this regard would be more effective and substantial and that the public would have a greater sense of fulfillment.

Shi Xiaolin successively visited the Miao Miao Childcare Center in Chenglong Road Subdistrict, Jinjiang District, Chengdu Municipality, and the Rongyi Community Canteen for the Elderly in Fuqing Road Subdistrict, Chenghua District, Chengdu, to understand the progress and implementation of initiatives concerning people's well-being, such as inclusive childcare supply and elderly meal assistance services.

Subsequently, Shi Xiaolin convened a thematic meeting to discuss the work of ensuring and improving people's well-being. Shi Xiaolin emphasized the need to complete the various tasks concerning people's well-being, as determined in this year's government work report, with high quality, striving to deliver a satisfactory response to the people's expectations regarding their well-being. Efforts are required to accelerate the progress of people's well-being projects, strictly control quality and efficiency, strengthen supervision, and work together to overcome challenges and ensure the projects' timely completion. Solid measures should be taken to ensure the effectiveness of employment initiatives, which are fundamental to people's well-being, prioritize the employment of college graduates and other young people, enhance employment and entrepreneurship counseling services, and meticulously implement assistance for difficult groups in their job search. We should strive in every possible way to promote sustained and stable income growth, strengthen regular support for low-income populations, ensure the income growth of poverty-alleviated groups, and stick to the bottom line against any large-scale relapse into poverty. We should ramp up efforts to address the prominent shortcomings in public services, better allocate educational resources across urban and rural areas, expand the availability of quality medical resources and ensure they are better distributed among regions, advance the construction of cultural and sports facilities, and create more excellent schools, hospitals, and centers in the vicinity of people's homes. We should secure and accurately target the basic needs of the people, improve the tiered and category-based social assistance system, gradually enhance the policy support for urban and rural areas, and prioritize efforts to see that, at the primary level, basic living needs are met, salaries are paid, and governments function smoothly.

Shi Xiaolin demanded to comprehend population trends and public needs precisely, scientifically plan for people's well-being initiatives for the coming year, and devote continuous efforts to enhancing the tangible and accessible impact of people's well-being work. It is essential to accurately identify the pressing difficulties and problems that concern the people most, solicit opinions from all sectors, and strategize a series of projects that are highly targeted, broadly inclusive, and directly benefit the people. We need to enhance the comprehensive planning of public services, focus on a "people-centered" and "demand-driven" approach, prioritize the development of inclusive, fundamental, and safety-net services for people's well-being, strive to create an all-age friendly society, establish additional comprehensive community service platforms, and foster high-quality, balanced development of basic public services in both urban and rural areas. We need to leverage reform measures to resolve difficulties in people's well-being, improve the public service institutional framework, and strategically advance key reform initiatives in the realm of livelihood. Efforts are required to foster unity and collaboration among the government, market entities, businesses, social organizations, and families, ensuring they work in harmony, participate fully, and share benefits, thereby creating a cohesive force for people's well-being initiatives.
